Magazine ranks Tiger Woods’ golf resort north of Houston best in Texas

Bluejack National, a resort-style residential community surrounding a golf course designed by Tiger Woodsranked first among Texas residential golf courses on national magazine Golfweek’s annual list of the top 200 courses in the country.

It ranked eighth nationally, after courses in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arizona and Colorado. Bluejack National is 50 miles north of downtown Houston. Membership initiation fees will be $95,000 in 2019 with dues of $1,000 per month for equity memberships.

Bluejack National is seeing a shift in buyers as the extension of Texas 249 toward College Station eases access to the resort destination 50 miles northwest of downtown Houston.

The 755-acre community and club off FM 1486 Road in Montgomery has traditionally drawn second-home buyers looking for a retreat close to Houston that feels much farther away with its rolling terrain and luxe lifestyle amenities. It’s home to the nation’s only Tiger Woods-designed golf course, and this year the resort added The Fort, a place for crafts, pickleball, bowling, baseball, football, canoeing, shuffleboard, eating and drinking, and swimming. There’s also a lighted short course for nighttime golf. The atmosphere is laid-back, so golfing while barefoot is perfectly acceptable.
